Distribution Policy

All students will have an opportunity to pick up their book following their arrival in May. All students must present a photo ID in order to receive their purchased book. No one may pick up another student’s book, under any circumstances. Students who are on suspension, home-bound instruction, or absent during distribution must contact the yearbook adviser to make arrangements for a parent or guardian to pick up the book.

Books that have been paid for will be held during the advertised time period, after which the book will released for sale to another student. The student may then pick up a refund for his/her book if he/she can provide adequate proof of purchase along with the request. Staff members, advisers, and school officials will not be held responsible for a book that has been released for sale after the designated time period has been reached.

Yearbook Returns

Should a student want a refund of their yearbook purchase our program policy dictates that returns and refunds will only be provided if the product is still in new condition. Yearbooks that have been marked within will not be accepted as the product cannot be resold.

If a product is received damaged or missing pages the yearbook program will work with the individual and our publisher to supply the customer with a new and complete copy of their book.

Pronoun and Name Change Policy

The Lykos Yearbook reflects official district records in Aeries. Student names and pronouns will be published exactly as they appear in Aeries.

If a student wishes to change their name or pronouns in the yearbook, the request must first be processed through the school counselor and registrar so that Aeries is updated. Once district records are revised, the yearbook will mirror those revisions.

All changes must be completed and reflected in Aeries before the first yearbook deadline in order to be included.

AI Policy

 Lykos Yearbook AI Use Policy:
As a nationally recognized publication, the Lykos Yearbook holds itself to the highest standards of creativity, originality, and journalistic integrity. Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools can support learning and workflow when used responsibly, but they must never replace a staffer’s own work or creativity.

General Policy and Consequences
To maintain fairness and uphold our publication’s credibility, all staffers are expected to follow the AI policy outlined below.

Acceptable and Unacceptable Uses of AI
Photography & Design - Not Allowed: AI-generated images, composites, or design elements may not be used in any part of the yearbook. Photography and design must always be created by staff members.

Writing- Headlines & Brainstorming - Staff may use AI for idea generation only (for example, brainstorming headline directions or wordplay). However, final work must be their own—never copy AI output word-for-word. Captions, Stories, and Features: All captions, stories, and written content must be completely original. Using AI-generated writing for any published piece is not permitted.

Transcribing - Allowed with Caution: AI transcription tools may be used to save time when converting recorded interviews into text.

Sidebars and Coverage Concepts - Not Allowed: AI may not be used to generate sidebar topics, coverage ideas, or copy.

Final Note - The goal of this policy is not to discourage innovation—it’s to ensure that every page, photo, and story in the Lykos Yearbook reflects the genuine skill, effort, and creativity of its staff. If you’re ever unsure whether something is acceptable, ask your editor or adviser before using it.

Obituary Policy

Should a student and/or school personnel die during the current coverage period, the staff will handle the death in a respectful manner.

A 1/4 page tribute will be placed under the "Index" section in the book and will include the student's name, dates of birth and death under the words "In Memorandum".

If additional coverage is wished, it is suggested that a dedication can be purchased for this purpose. Due to the sensitive nature of some student's passing and the wishes and rights of the families connected with that individual, all purchased memorials are reviewed by Lykos and Woodcreek High School Administration before being accepted for publishing.
